Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, and tennis superstar Serena Williams have been friends for nearly ten years. They met at a Super Bowl party in 21 and have been firm friends since. The two have been vocal of their support for each other throughout their lives and careers. Meghan, 37, has just entered a new phase in her life: motherhood. Serena, 37, is a mother too - she has her daughter with husband Alexis Ohanian. But she’s decided to give her friend some space before she begins doling out the motherhood advice. In an interview with the BBC at Wimbledon, the 23-time Grand Slam champ said a new mum needs a few months to let the dust settle.   She said: “I never pass on words of wisdom because I feel like, everyone, when they have a kid, especially when you just have a baby, it’s so difficult to just be. “It’s just like get through the first three, four months and then we can talk.” Serena also opened up about how motherhood has changed her perspective on a lot of things. She said: “I want to leave a legacy, I want to be this positive person for my daughter.   “Everything I do, I want to do it for my daughter and I’ve never obviously had that motivation before.” She reminded everyone that motherhood is tough no matter how ‘together’ you seem. The interviewer said: “You seem to have the parenting thing totally down.” Serena replied: “I totally do not. I’m a mess!”   She also discussed the pressures of growing up in the age of social media and heightened scrutiny. She said “For me, it’s really important to believe in yourself and it’s hard. “I can’t imagine growing up nowadays in this time, but I have to imagine because I have a daughter that’s going to grow up in this time so I kind of need to put myself in that situation. “I do have a voice that I can use and how do I use that in a positive way?”
